Custom Commission

Commissions

My process is deeply personalized and tailored to your specific preferences and requirements.

Rates

The rates for custom watercolor art commissions can vary depending on the size of the artwork, the complexity of the subject matter, and the level of detail. Rates may also depend on the amount of time and effort required to complete the commission. I am happy to put together a custom quote for you based on a reference photo or description you provide. Below are base prices based on watercolor artwork size:

8x10 watercolor on paper - $375

11x14 watercolor on paper - $425

Initial Consultation

The process usually begins with an initial consultation where we discuss your vision for the artwork, including the subject matter, desired style, color scheme, and any specific details you would like to be included. I may ask questions to gain a better understanding of your expectations.

Concept Development

Based on the initial consultation, I will develop a concept for the artwork or, if we are confident in the direction discussed, I will jump right into creating the final piece. This involves creating sketches or preliminary drawings to present to you. As the client, you can provide feedback and request any changes or adjustments before proceeding further.

Agreement and Deposit

Once the concept is finalized and we are both satisfied with the direction, I draft a commission agreement. This agreement outlines the terms and conditions of the commission, including the agreed-upon price, delivery timeline, and ownership rights. I require a 50% deposit at this stage.

Creation Process

With the agreement in place, I begin the creation process. I work on watercolor artwork, following the specifications and preferences discussed in our previous steps. This may involve multiple layers of paint, multiple studies, careful attention to detail, and a variety of watercolor techniques to achieve the desired effect.

Progress Updates

During the creation process, I may provide progress updates to the client. These updates can include photos or digital scans of the artwork at various stages to ensure that the client is satisfied with the direction and progress of the piece.

Finalization and Delivery

Once the artwork is completed, I will notify you via email. At this stage, any remaining balance is typically settled. The artwork is then carefully packaged to ensure its protection during transit and shipped to you. Alternatively, arrangements can be made for a pickup or personal delivery if feasible..
